I stopped posting much on FB a few years ago.
I just counted that I posted 11 posts in 4 years with just links to my soundcloud account. I removed my birthday date too.
I found the whole posting event a constant feedback loop and if you don’t get any responses then you get depressed, so why do it?
I do scroll though fb though and watch reels.
Other than that, I don’t bother.
As twenty something, it was because I felt like my mind was exposed too often. Like everyone knew could judge me to the point of deciphering my feelings and thoughts
I’m obviously not 20 something now, but it’s the same thing. It’s hard to not blur the line of personal and private against publicly acceptable - things like religion, politics, financial sensitivities
People are starting to value their privacy again.
I never liked it. It just felt like a meaningless chore to check in on Facebook. Maybe I would liked it better if the design was basic( more like a phone book) and add-free.
Young people are getting smarter about it.
I don’t know about us older folks though!

I hate social media
I’m on FB, X, and Bluesky. Would I use them as much if I had a good F2F social network? Answer= no. I’d still use them though.
I stopped posting because I posted often when I was very excited about something and it kind of embarrassed me. I have a lot of shame because of the things i posten when I was kind of manic or intoxicated so I think it’s better for me not to post at all.
Numbers are a bit skewed because more people used social media during COVID.
Also, the advent of AI has made people more wary about what and how often they post. (In my opinion)
I only post on FB and then only rarely. Example: my trip photos. A big reason why a lot of people in my family don’t post as much anymore is because of all the heavyhanded censorship on Facebook by F-ckerberg.
I have Facebook with no friends
Apart from that i come here and another forum
But I do not class forums as social media
Im moreso on Insta than FB. I find too much news and fake news appears on FB. On Insta I have a bit more control over what I see.
I just find it so boring. Even back in 2007 when facebook came I didn’t think much of it. Maybe it’s because I’m introvert I don’t like it much. Building a image doesen’t really mean anything to me.
It’s always rigged innit
