Why does every doctor want me on either Clozapine or a depot?

It really annoys me. Why can’t they just leave things alone.

They’re trying to build a paper file on me for if things get bad again and they will take the decision out of my hands for good.

Not impressed.

I take my meds. Maybe one dose on one evening where I fell asleep early and forgot to take them in the past month

Why do they have to be so insistent on Clozapine or depot?

From my experience of being on clozapine since last 7 years. I would advice you to stay away from this drug. Only benefit of it is that it removes positive symptoms. That’s all. It comes with hell out of side effects. If every drug fails, you can consider taking it. But it should be last option. Pdoc wants me to decrease clozapine and increase amisulpride. Pdoc wants me to see endocrinologist for my increased prolactin due to amisulpride.

What’s up @Here4You ? Your posts have seemed a bit snarky and bad tempered recently.

What’s going on?

for me clozapine was last resort and eventually i had to take it cause other meds didn’t seem to work enough. So I was on riperdal consta and they raised that and added clozapine to it and that worked well.
I have some side effects of it but not too bad.

I think your emotion is likely due to rebellion against my opinion on taking the meds. I am solid enough to know that I am not bad tempered.

Sorry I may be interpreting your posts wrong.

I will keep this in mind when I see your content here.

I think, given your recent history of insisting on tapering down coupled with your weekend suicidal episodes, suggesting a depot is a very reasonable course of action. It is still your decision, but I worry it won’t be one day.

This trend of Clozapine/Depot stretches back much further. I made this thread after seeing yet again a statement in my GP clinic letter on refusing Depot and Clozapine recommended also

Probably started around 2016 when I was on my 4th AP.

The doctor then was losing patience with me not being able to find a drug that worked.

Literally our last ditch attempt was Amisulpride as number 6, and thankfully it works for now.

My compliance issues used to be side effects like weight gain and fatigue, but then it was movement problems on Haldol, and now prolactin on Amisulpride.

Some good news though. Last weekend I managed to make a conscious effort not to get myself in a spin over the weekend - and it worked

Clozapine and Invega has some very harsh side effects. I’m sure that Solian (Amisulpride)is one of the best you can take it only causes sexual side effects in some.

Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant.
