Well there are electrochemical processes in your brain, that electro part is energy. That energy lives on in some form after you die, but whether or not your conscious after you die is up to your beliefs. I don’t believe we are conscious after death or that there is an after life. I think the energy that makes up our brain/mind/soul/whatever while we are alive simply dissipates and gets reabsorbed back into the Universe.

Yes, it is, but we are still part of the Universe and the overall entropy of the Universe is increasing. I don’t know what the end result will be though. There are numerous theories.

Its a whole rabbit hole discussion. I kind of think that it is just going to loop and we are going to do this all over again forever exactly the same, it kind of makes you think how important the next things you do are, but you could also ask, maybe we are just dominos, the reason you are reading this is just because a long time ago, a rock crashed into another rock, until after lots of actions causing actions. eventually that synapse in your brain fired and now you are here. We have absoloutely no control, and we might as well just be observers. But thats a whole crazy concept that you cant even start to take a guess on. lol.

Yes its empathy. I was told empathy develops when you’re a kid so its a mix of genes and your environment like your family etc Idk if you really can change that, I doubt unless they make an empathy pill lol I am just a bit empathetic honestly I do care about others but not too much.

Pretty sure sz can lower empathy as it can make us flat with no emotions.

Why do you have to have kids to care about the future of the human race? Maybe I just have different thinking than you but I want the human race to survive and thrive in the future. Hopefully colonize other planets eventually and thrive. Don’t you want the human race to continue and thrive after you are gone?

I care enough about nature. Not because I care about the rotten kids next door having clean air and water in the future. I care about nature for natures sake. I grew up going to the beach all the time or hiking in the mountains or climbing rocks. I feel I owe “nature” something.
It gave me much pleasure growing up as a kid and I owe it not to destroy it and to leave it as I found it. I guess I feel about nature like some Native-Americans feel about it. It is part of us just like god. We are one with it and it needs to be respected and maybe even worshipped.

im not sure exactly, but to me, empathy is almost a synonym for loving people. To unite with others or to be able to feel their pain just as if we ourselves were feeling it .
maybe its one of the first stages of being able to love?
If that’s the case i think we have to become tender hearted again to be willing to feel others pain instead of being ignorant of it. The means being willing to watch that infomercial showing the suffering of starving children in africa for example instead of just switching the channel.
That’s only the first step ofcourse. If we want to love fully of course we would have to act but if were taking empathy to be one of the first step in love then yea it has to do with opening up.
The problem is often when we open up we are hurt. So most people harden their hearts and are unwilling to open up again. Empathy then requires a willingness to be hurt i suppose, so that we can serve others.
TL;DR We have to become tender hearted again and open ourselves up to people even if it hurts.

I really wish I cared more but I don’t care so much. I think it would make my life more meaningful that’s why I want to care more.

I have no kids or grandkids but I do have a bunch of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and a grandnephew. And I love all of them. So, I care about the environment for them.
