Me too but now on my meds,
I rarely see anything.
I once saw a black dog.

Yikes. Thats what i was thinking. Like what if you saw a car coming at you or a person in the road and made a drastic move. That could be dangerous

I was not allowed to drive due to an eye condition that is sometimes connected to schizophrenia. I went to a lot of places anyway when I was young but go almost nowhere now. It combined with other factors ruined my social life outside family however.

I suffer from negative and cognitive symptoms and I can’t walk on the street, I’ve almost been hit by a car several times, so I would have the same difficulty driving, that’s why I don’t drive

Its better not to drive especially if you take sleeping pills

Before i was taking sleeping pills i could drive normally but after i did an accident because of them and stopped

I dont take sleeping pills. So im good on that. I used to love going for long rides. I can only last 20-30mins in a car now if im driving. Im okay riding

It has nothing to do with antipsychotics or schizophrenia, it’s you and how they affect you.

I work as a delivery driver. I’ve been on antipsychotics, benzos and antidepressants for 18 years and never had a problem driving.

Doesn’t seem to stop most people.

Many people with schizophrenia can and do drive. During a severe phase of the illness, their judgment might be impaired, but most of the time, it’s not an issue. I’d be more concerned about someone with an alcohol issue.

Again, it’s you. I have brutal insomnia problems and have been taking sleeping pills for almost a year now. I take 1.5mg of clonazepam every night (klonopin) and have been for about 8 months, before that I took zolpidem, zopiclone, ativan, promethezine, Trazodone (still taking 75mg of akathisia), Benadryl, gabapentin, doxylamine succinate and tried a whole bunch of herbal remedies but none of those where strong enough.

I took seroquel 50 and that kept me asleep for the first year and a half after the insomnia after i took remeron 15 or 30 and now i am not taking any sleeping pill and i quit college. Do you know if your sleeping pills are better than mine?

@jga you keep asking questions that are impossible for us to answer. No one here knows if their sleepings pills are better than yours.

Again, we are not doctors or scientists. Even if any of us are, we can’t legally dispense medical advice.

I dunno, but I used to be on 40 mg of Olanzapine for about 17 years, and that sht knocked me the fck out, I slept for about 12 hours a day. The maximum dosage according to the manufacturer is 20mg. I took ativan occasionally while on it. I could still drive.

Maybe you just need to find different meds, then you could drive.
