I think he was a priest in Europe who handed out presents to homeless kids or orphans or something.
In which case without Jesus there would be no Santa.

IS there any connection between Santa Claus and jesus …Are they both God…???
Jesus was born somewhere in the middle east under a star.
santa to my knowledge was born in the north pole next to the abominable snow man, one was destined to wonder the desolate icy plains in despair, a solitude animal with very poor social skills and the other was to provide joy at xmas to millions of kids of the Christian faith, so if you are a muslim or a hindu or something else you get nothing.
