Tell me the name of it please and little bit of the side affects
My weight was lowest on Abilify. I was 200lb on it. Now I am 306lb on risperidone.
Why did you stop taking abilify
If I calorie count, I can lose weight on Abilify. If I don’t calorie count, then I put it on. So I’d say Abilify is weight neutral for me.
It caused impulsivity and addiction problems but these are rare side effects.
I’m on Sycrest/Saphris (asenapine) and it is very good to my weight.
No side effects, aside from a little drowsiness for the first hours. But that’s fine, I just take it at night.
It did worsen my anxiety for the first few weeks but that passed.

Did you suffer from restlessness when you were on abilify
No I didn’t but some ppl do.
Haloperidol. It gives me akithisia but I treat it with benztropine and it’s gone.
I’m on two APs neither make me gain weight - amisulpride and haloperidol
Side effects of amisulpride is high prolactin levels and some insomnia.
Haloperidol gives me a bit of akathisia and muscle stiffness in neck. Tolerable though.
Oh look, a unicorn!
i lost weight on geodon and was able to be more active. might go on latuda so i can stop being called fat and lazy. they seem pretty similar in regards to weight. my biggest problem with geodon is id take the dose at night and stay awake all night agitated then sleep like 2 hours and get super sedated from the morning dose. i changed to taking it only at night and my sleep got better but id have panic attacks and brain zaps halfway through the day from it having such a short half life. latuda is once a day with a longer half life
I am only three pounds above my ideal weight. I’m diagnosed sza, bipolar type. I’m on the following meds:
Risperdal Consta IM injection 25 mg every two weeks
Geodon 240 mg in divided doses every day
Seroquel 100 mg every night
Risperidone 0.5 mg every night
Celexa 20 mg every day
Klonipin 0.5 mg twice a day as needed for anxiety/insomnia
My side effects of all the above meds are:
Dry mouth, constipation, akathisia, tendency toward weight gain, loss of libido, loss of orgasmic capacity, decrease in musical ability.
I think @Headspark has managed to get a good balance on meds/diet.
Amisulpride at higher doses is very good 800mg-1200mg for positive sz.
100-300mg for negative symptoms.
Causes your prolactin to go through the roof though. Much higher than Risperidone. That’s why I don’t understand the chart posted on this thread. Maybe it’s because it’s a USA chart I don’t know?
Amisulpride is available in the USA but not for psychosis. The FDA will not approve of it due to higher prolactin levels. Think the USA have paid hundreds of millions for this problem with Risperidone.
Good for weight though, so if you’re in the UK try it. Best for weight loss. But not rise in prolactin. Every one lactates on it sadly
I was 240 at one point and im only 5’10. I quit zyprexa got to 195 on invega then got back on zyprexa because i had trouble getting to sleep now went back up to 210 and am back to invega only. From my experience definitely invega but everyone else is probably right about abilify to.
@lovesong I’m on 400mg amisulpride and my prolactin is high but I don’t lactate on it and still get my period.
On risperidone I lactated so the pdocs don’t want to switch me back to it.
Everyone is different though. I hated Risperidone but it didn’t make me lactate. So I wasn’t too concerned. I was on depot’s every fortnight.
Whereas Amisulpride I find ruthless regarding lactating. I think if you went up another 400mg you would definitely lactate
It comes under most common side effects whereas Risperidone said rare.
I wouldn’t believe them anyway it’s just because the USA paid shed loads in compensation. There not stupid are they. They’d let us all suffer I guess to keep pharmaceutical companies in business.
The government let us suffer to line there pockets
