Maresias, north shore of Sao Paulo, Brazil. I am a surfer. Maresias has great tubular waves. Gabriel Medina, the 3 times world champion of surfing was born here and lives here as well. Surfing is a passion and helps me feel good. I lived in Boston for about a year before my first pshycosis ephisode. I loved it. A lot more respect for one’s freedom.

I was born in Fairfield, California USA but have lived in West Virginia since I was 2.

I want to add more of a creative spin on my answer.
I live between two rivers, just like fertile lands in an old book.
Im between the beach and the hills. I’ve literally ski’d and bodyboarded in the same day. 2 hours either direction.
The city is an institution in itself, capitol city of one of the richest states in the world, named by the divine. Holy in some languages.
I’ve been neighbors to Charles Manson and done AA meetings with Robin Williams.
I’ve done stupid things on its streets, and back hills. Between the forests and farmland.
It’s my home. It matters to me.

Ok I hope I don’t derail your thread.
What do you mean by where are you from? I get asked this question often and depending on my mood there are several answers.
Is it where you were born?
Where you grew up?
Where you have lived the longest?
Where you live right now?
Probably many variants so please help define this.
It could mean all of them depends how you like to see it.
I’m asked so often it gets annoying and can be an arse with my answer.
I live in a country I’m clearly not native to but have lived here the longest in my life.
I spent most of my life in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu province, China. Used to live in Australia for more than 10 years.
It’s a tricky question and one I can not define.
If you’ve spent all your life in one country, city, town or area it’s easy to answer. But if you’ve moved and lived a significant part of your life and plan to continue there the answer may differ depending on how you feel.
The best question I ever received was “where have you come from today?” Rather than the “where are you from?”
My ancestors are from Guangdong province in Southern China all of whom migrated to Hong Kong. I live somewhere in North America now.
