When will Sertraline start to work?

I have been taking Sertraline now around 4 weeks and it hasn’t done much for me. I don’t have the desire to go out anymore. I lay on my bed half the day so tired. I don’t take showers as much anymore. I have lost interest in everything since I started Sertraline. Have you experienced that before?

I came off it. Tried a couple of others, and decided to deal with things without an AD. Not possible for everyone though, but a doctor is the best person to talk to about this…

I’d say give it a bit more time. Might start to help you soon.

I’m on Sertraline too. I never gave it that much thought. I think with that class of drugs it generally takes about 30 days to start to work.

How much time should I give it?

They typically say it takes 6+ weeks for ADs to be effective. At least thats what I heard from my pdoc

4 to 6 weeks after the therapeutic dose is started. Also you may require a dose increase. Mine only began really helping when I hit 150mg.

Did you have the same problems as I had when you started Sertraline. Did it go away when your dose was increased?

I was told by the pharmacy that sometimes at first things actually get a little worse before they get better. Almost like as a side effect. But eventually things evened out and it started helping.

For some people ADs will work right away and of not, then not at all. I’m one of those type.

I guess I just have to give it more time. I just hope it will work.
