I did that to my teacher in my young years too even though my mom had schizophrenia. It’s just cultural. I call myself those things too but i had an experience with a sociopathic woman once a couple years ago. Everybody has something anyway.
an evaluation of ‘smartness’ by a culture, is a culture that has never seen my son memorize songs,
locate the movie he wants by having memorized how it looks spelled out on the DVD or VHS, the first person to see a rainbow in the sky, better athletic ability than most 10 years old boys. I could go on.
Your son is a gift to this world. A reminder of what’s important, and a ray of sunshine in dark times. I know I don’t know him, but I’ve worked with special needs kids for many years. Down’s Syndrome should be renamed “Love and Joy Syndrome”. I know how hard things can get, but you’re so blessed too. You seem to know that, and I think that’s beautiful.
Wow ya daze it’s sad, being inflicted with this illness I become shocked when people say things like that…people don’t realize I’m mentally ill maybe next time I’ll grab them by the shoulder and say “sir (or ma’am) that is disrespectful as I am mentally ill!”…I’m sure that would afflict them.
its messed up it really is, I get called crazy and stuff all the time but my in laws. My partner knows how much I hate it so she doesn’t say those things.
