He got the Nobel Prize in Economics after diagnosis but I think it may have been for his early work in game theory which was very impactful to the field of Economics (and which was from before he was diagnosed).

He got the Nobel prize much later in life, after his early work on game theory was done and after he had suffered with schizophrenia for years.

according to the movie, he had a delusional room mate with whom he would drink with and make calculations on the window with chalk and he had a break through as everyone knows about the theory of movement calculis. that’s my take on it anyways…if he hadn’t been schizophrenic I doubt he would have had the break through mathematically.

an interesting thing about Dr. Nash is that his doctorate was strikingly short (26 pages versus the average of a few hundred or more), probably because he practically pioneered a new field

Edit: also I believe he received the doctorate at age 21.
