This is why it’s so important to see a psychiatrist and take prescribed medication.
However, it’s not that simple: mental healthcare is underfunded which causes a lack of outreach to facilitate the process of getting care and health insurance. Too often people with schizophrenia, even those in crisis, are not admitted to a psychiatric hospital due to something as basic as having no beds available, which results in unstable patients getting discharged before any follow-up resources are put in place.
We can and must do better.
