I think somebody on this site said that if you’re psychotic for six months or longer you’re probably schizophrenic.
If you know it’s a delusion then it’s not really a delusion.
@LilyoftheValley not true you still hear it as if it were real but you know it can’t be and you can’t get it to stop.
@TheVoices That’s not a delusion. That’s a hallucination.
@LilyoftheValley That makes sense thanks for the correction
That is not true, you can have different levels of insight. You can know logically something is probably a delusion, but emotionally feel it is true and find it difficult not to act according to the beliefs.
There is a lot of ignorance about it. Going by that standard means no one on here is ever delusional because everyone in here has some degree of insight.
For example, when I had a persistent belief that my reflection was going to come out of my mirror and kill me. I knew that I probably had a psychotic disorder and that this was irrational, but I was so terrified and could not overcome the fear that I could not sleep and constantly kept checking the mirror to make sure my reflection wasn’t going to come out. This is still a delusion.
I tend to see that as intrusive thoughts because you are able to see that it doesn’t make sense and is not real
@saynow
What diagnosis did your doctor give you? Thank
my doctor dont want tell as if it is minor disease
That sounds like schizophrenia, but I think it depends on how long you’ve had these hallucinations and delusions. I read someone that your symptoms have to last longer than 6 months (another comment mentioned this so I’m pretty sure it’s right). If it doesn’t, than it might be psychosis, which I’m pretty sure is temporary
An expert on this told me it’s a delusion only if you either fully believe it or it makes you change your behavior according to the delusional ideas. So saying “I am delusional right now” generally means you’re not delusional. But when I was on the bus repeating phrases in my mind so no one could listen in on my thoughts, that’s delusional even if I don’t fully believe that someone is listening in on my thoughts.
You are not fully lacking insight, you are not full delusional no. You’re on spectrum somewhere, like partially delusional. It’s still a delusion/bizarre belief but you’re not fully delusional I guess.
I don’t know I find it hard to believe if someone tells you thinking people are watching you through cameras and thinking you’re going to be a warrior in the apocalypse aren’t delusions just because somewhere in my head I have a little voice that says I have a psychotic disorder. Speaking not as a professional but as someone who’s actually had the illness.
