I had a friend who said:“what’s the use of having a mind if you can’t change it?”. I try to keep my word most of the time but circumstances can make me change my mind.

My mother always said if you take something back which you gave away, it’s worse than stealing. I try to follow her teaching

I’m an insurance broker. We take people’s money now in exchange for action later if something goes wrong. Honesty is essential. “Utmost good faith” is a legal requirement of insurance contracts that goes beyond normal contract law in my province. Dishonest people are not welcome in my profession.

I would rather not give my word.

In all seriousness, I have a hard time keeping promises. Which really upsets Hubby. So, I only make a promise if I’m sure I can keep it. I don’t like to promise on something if I’m unsure of my ability to keep the promise.

I didn’t know that. That’s a very honorable way to be. All businesses (and all people :wink:) should be run that way. I used to work in banking, which is seemingly the other way around, trying to sell people products that are not necessarily in their best interests.
