My apartment costs about 1/10 of a million. So I’d buy that first. Then I’d pay for school through the doctorate which is probably like another 1/10th. That leave me with 80%, that I would keep for living costs and maintenance of a car

You could earn around 50k from passive earnings a year from investing the million and do nothing to earn it.
It is not that much though.
If your desires are little it would be enough though.

I would pay off my mortgage and perhaps by a business that’s already setup so I have something to do that’s not totally reliant on me working full time but enough to keep money as a non issue

Set up a fund for single mothers - where they are checked to be genuine and not on drugs - and give out a number they can ring in an emergency if they got no electric or food in the cupboard.

I would buy a little tiny house in a retirement village for over 50s.
I’m fifty soon.
I would make sure it has air conditioning in it.
That way I have my own space yet can get support and attend group activities if I want to and maybe even make friends.
Also area I’m thinking of is a cheaper neighbourhood than I’m in now but they seem to have better people.
(Been bully vibed and excluded by majority in this neighbourhood for years) they are stuck up n arrogant and think they are superior and perfect and I’m worthless trash to disrespect and walk over etc
I would love to be surrounded by a people who include me and value me and appreciate who I am and are nice and respectful to me etc
