I live alone but they have raised the lot rental here to $1100.00 a month, you own the home but not the lot, many have moved out and lots are planning to move. The homes are now worthless as no one is buying them cause of the high lot rental, They said they are raising the rent every 6 months so I will have to move, and this area will become empty, with a bunch of homes nobody wants
I’ve only heard of this type of set up in mobile homes where you buy the mobile home and find a lot to rent. That sounds like an outrageous amount of money for a mobile lot! I don’t know if you’re in the US or not, but from what I’ve read the lots typically go from 300-900 a month being the highest in California. I guess you don’t have the option of rent control? It does have to be stated in your lease any changes you will have during that lease time frame. They can’t legally change it without you signing the paperwork stating the changes and the changes cannot change once you’ve signed the lease. If this sounds like your situation then maybe you should look for a different lot somewhere else because that is just way to expensive. You could rent a nice house for that much money a month and sell your own for extra money. Again, I don’t know your situation or where you live. There are places on the internet you can use to search lot lease prices in different areas or even neighborhoods. I can’t stand extortion. What added amenities to you get for your lease?
My husband and I rent a two-bedroom townhouse. Our rent was stable for the first four years, but now it’s gone up every year since. We are paying $200 more a month now than when we first moved in!
Live with my parents, they own 3 houses in different towns that they stay at. Usually i stay in the city house alone since there is more opportunity for work and such. I would move out if i could just because i used to like living independently. I use to live in a different city in an apartment while i worked.
I own two homes. They are both real nice but I have mortgages on them. They both have a pool.
One of my mortgages is about $961 per month but it’s an ARM and will probably adjust up next year. I rent the house out for $1675.
The house I live in my mortgage is $1500. Those are both for the home and the land. I really like my house though. It’s nearly 3000 sq ft has 4 bedrooms and a home theater. It’s on a lake and I have a pool and a hot tub.
It’s paradise really. Would rather be on the beach but the lake is nice. I could hit the lotto and wouldn’t move. I am real happy where I am. We got a good deal on this place.
I was renting a house last year for $1595 and it wasn’t nearly this nice.
I made an offer on this house the day it hit the market.
nice man @TomCat. The second I’m able to hold down a full-time job, I’m gonna move into a condo. I have enough money saved up for a nice down payment, just need sustainable income to pay the mortgage and all that
Both of my houses have 3 car garages too. That was a major selling point for me. I can only fit one car in my garage though I have so much stuff in there.
I have plenty of room for storage upstairs but my wife won’t let me put anything up there. If she ever goes out of town I am just going to do it. Would like to be able to use more of my garage.
It motivates me to keep working. I want to pay them off.
wow, 3 car garages? Mr. money bags over here haha. That’s awesome though. Glad to hear a fellow schizophrenic is doing well and successful. My dream is to have my own house one day. People like you inspire me hope that it can be done.
I live in what is a trailer with an addition added on, on the backside. two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one of the bathrooms need to be remodeled. with a library, and a bonus room im going to put my treadmill in. it’s on 3 acres, about an acre or a little more of land where I garden, and two acres down by the creek behind the trailer where I can fish, but I don’t fish. it also has a big red barn that im thinking I will make into a workshop and build acoustic guitars and mandolins…just worried about the location as the humidity is often high. I also have a car port that I can park two cars under. all for $500/mo. this place along with all my year’s of rent is part of my inheritance, but I will move to an apartment when mom and dad die. and mom and dad live across the street, where I have a home gym and can visit anytime I get lonely. o and it also has two covered porches, one with a wheelchair ramp in the back and one long one in the front. I spend a lot of time on the porch.
I live in a great one-bedroom in the southwest USA. It’s got a little porch and a pub practically next door and is built optimally for hot summers. I love it. Just me and my cat. I also have some great neighbours, so living alone doesn’t feel isolating.
Before I moved here I was in a terrible neighbourhood (colloquially called the “war zone”) and before that I was living in my car and really struggling to keep all the pieces together. So my current place, albeit “no frills,” is comfortable and stable and just a real slice of heaven!
