I am from China. I am immigrant to the U.S in 2010. Even I stay here over 10 years. But my English still limited. I got schizophrenia in 2013, in the past 5 years, I did not take medicine and got into the hospital 5 times. Now I take medicine every day and get better, unfortunately, my husband wants to divorce.
The problem is we have two daughters, and they are U.S citizen. My husband does not allow them to go back to China with me. If I choose to go back to China, I could not see my daughters. If I choose to stay in the U.S, I have no friends here, I have no relatives here, and I don’t have a job because my English is not good, my skillset is not good.
I googled Charities New Jersey and found some. In NJ there are Charities that are used to working with people that have limited English. They may help you find a job.
there may be a Clubhouse in New Jersey you could join and they might help you find a job my clubhouse has teps transitional employmen placements and they are supported incase you are not well someone fills in.
I don’t work now. But when I worked for the phone company we got a lot of calls from people trying to get service who were immigrants or refugees who got help from Catholic Charities or other Charities
Many (particularly refugees) came to the US needing a lot of help. If your husband divorces you the charity may be able to lead you to where you can get a job.
@bjrpengjing there’s a website meetup.com where you can enter your interest and hobbies into the search field and it’ll show meetups in your area where you can meet other people with similar interest. For example you can search “walking” or “book club” or “board games” and it’ll show a list of those get together in your area. You could even search Chinese. You could also google Chinese groups in your area
