It’s not your fault. It’s faulty genetics.
I didn’t get diagnosed till I was 29 and I survived with a lot of excuses. I’m too shy. I’m this or that. I wish instead of forcing me to go back to work they said to me…take time to get used to this and the meds.
That would have saved some heartache!
They should have warned me before I got in my first psyche ward that the food was bad.
You’ll be ok you’re a little different but you aren’t a bad person for it.
I wish I was told about negatives. I didn’t learn that there were negative symptoms until like 5 years later. I just thought I was super ■■■■■■■lazy and worthless.
I wish they would have been more convincing that I had schizophrenia instead of telling me not to drink alcohol anymore…maybe I would’ve stayed on my meds…but then again I never would have been able to write my book if I hadn’t been delusional for so long after stopping meds…so it all works out.
I wish they would have told me that the longer the disease remains untreated the worse it tends to become and the harder it becomes to treat once going on antipsychotics. Because they didn’t tell me this I went untreated for a while to the point of having to get put back in the hospital a second time with worse positive symptoms
They left pretty much everything out. No advice or any information. Just a vague message early on that I had to take my meds, and when i was inpatient after what seemed like a long time just left on my own, that I needed stay for a while.
did they not tell you about any side effects? Which country is that?
This was in the early 90’s in the USA. The first med prescribed was Navane. Later, Haldol. I’m pretty sure atypicals weren’t available yet.
Wow what a load of useful information and really interesting too
