Working in a bakery was so nice because all the customers were happy, and the smells were amazing
I worked in a restaurant prepping and dishwashingā¦ I was hoping to be able to cook but left before I got to. I liked itā¦it was a lot though
Iāve also been a dishwasher. It was alright, not hard work. And my coworkers were really nice. But it got to be too much, and they also started making me close at night, when I specifically told them upfront that I could only work mornings/afternoons. Anyways, I might try dishwashing again at a less-busy restaurant.
I agree with you @Jake I have a part time job delivering stuff people order online and I enjoy it.
Yeah I closed at nights tooā¦ then they switched me to mornings to help with prepping and stuff. They were pretty busy most days and I was working every day.
Prepping is kind of fun, too. Itās busy work, but I enjoyed prepping the food for the cooks and customers.
It would be fun to watch you perform. I had a buddy in high school (who I also worked with) he and my manager, and a few other people formed a band and played at bars around town. Good times.
Itās been a long time.
Iām trying to feel better, since I discovered thereās a decent local band scene here. Maybe I can get involved in that at some point. Just this darkness is kicking my ass.
It sounds weird but my favorite job is my current janitor job. It has many advantages to it. My other jobs were stocking or working in restaurants or department stores. I was also a park ranger once. This janitor job is the most money Iāver ever madeāand itās the least amount of work. I only work three days a week, my hours are good, and I get paid vacation and sick leave. I work virtually alone every day I go in. Itās rare that I have to work with someone else. I take my lunch alone in my car listening to the radio which is how I like it.
I have to be around people all day but itās mostly people walking by, or sometimes I go in their office. I make a little small talk every day, either to a co worker or one of the office workers. I suffer from fatigue and it slows me way down but it seems to be OK with the bosses. Often, on Fridays we get out early. One bonus is that if I ever quit, or even if I get fired, Iāll get about $13,000 in severance pay. We have a few barbecues or luncheons each year, I donāt know if thatās a good thing or a bad thing. And my job is only a 20 minute drive away.
All my jobs were good, bakery, office, delivery and funeral. I wonder where my next job will be, as I canāt do labour jobs anymore.

First experience of what exactly?
I have not found my favorite job yet.
Unloading trucks at the mall early in the morning. Used to always have money forā¦ stuff and it was basically just getting paid to exercise and walking distance from my house.
I truly enjoyed being a convenience store clerk, running the register and stocking and cleaning. I was confident and able to interact well with the customers. I tried working the job my masterās degree was for but had a really hard time interacting appropriately with the other people. I wish I could do the convenience stores again part time but everybody around here only wants to hire full time. I like the camaraderie there, whereas degree work is competitive.
My favorite job was working on a telemetry step down nursing unit in a hospital interpreting and monitoring heart rhythms.
I had lots of jobs. My favorite job ever wasnāt the one that paid the most which was in my university domain of physiotherapy. Its neither my dream job of being a Dr, I never got in medschool. My favorite job was surprisingly after I got sz, it was a video game tester for Oculus VR video games. I played video games and wrote bug reports all day. It was fun. Sometimes Ubisoft chose some of us to work for them. I applied for PC or console video game tester but got the VR section, still great.
I had my own office, computer, and space to use the Oculus VR device.
Although it feels like this thread has run its course, Iāll drop my 2 cents anyway.
In another life I might enjoy teaching science to high school students. Iād tell them funny stories about discoveries made by accident or famous scientists blundering, such as Einsteinās wrong assumptons re quantum physics and black holes. My classes would not be all about colorless equations and formulae.
But I think my current state of mind is too gloomy and Iād do a poor job of being funny. Hopefully thatāll change sometime in the future.
