What do you think of those extreme calorie challenges?

I have a problem, and I know this. But I love watching those bazar calorie consumption videos where they try to eat like 10,000 calories in a certain amount of time. I don’t understand how those people stay so skinny! It makes for some entertaining videos, but maybe it’s a hugely unhealthy thing to do. I don’t ever want to do a challenge like that, I just want to get my eating under control in a normal way. These calorie challenges seem fake to me

Are you talking about things like hotdog eating contests? Or something else?

I dislike videos where people are being injured or are harming themselves in some fashion. I struggle with being a negative person and am constantly trying to push myself into a more positive headspace. I have be be cautious of viewing content that undoes my efforts. Pretty sure watching people self harm would set me back.

@Moonbeam there are people on YouTube who do eating challenges and see how many calories they can eat within a certain time limit.

That sounds horrible and also very unhealthy.

I don’t like them, I’m not sure why. It just seems like a waste of food, there’s people starving and these YouTuber gobble down massive amounts or try to and usually make a mess whilst doing so.

A lot of people do watch these videos though, so I know there’s meant to be an appeal to them

I agree they are unhealthy and sometimes it’s triggering for me too so overall not a fan of those videos

Before antipsychotics I could eat anything and not gain any extra weight. Some people i guess don’t have the chemistry to gain weight, but aps change that. Now I could easily balloon up to 300 lbs if I ate like I used to.

I’m an absolute YouTube nut and I had no idea there was such a thing.

I did happen upon one guy who ate massive amounts of food and covered it all in this weird sauce. It was kind of gross. He didn’t try to hit a certain number of calories, just a certain number of food items. Again not healthy to watch and if you’ve seen five minutes of any of his videos, you’ve seen enough of his entire channel imho.

I’ve never heard of a numeric challenge though.

Im the same I don’t like negativity

There is all kinds of strange stuff online. I think people just do it to get attention and more followers. And sometimes the weirder it is, the more attention they get. Best to just avoid those youtube or tiktoc videos altogether.
