What do you eat and drink to maintain your health?

So im on a low dose of olanzapine and flouxetine and im very worried about getting diabetes.

What helps you curb your appetite and maintain your health.

I went to the docs today for weightloss help and they basically told me im not fat enough for help with them and that id have to pay privately for weightloss injections and that its very strict.

Im trying to stop eating crap and carbs but its so hard when you work somewhere that is basically just carbs and sugar. I feel so down about my weight tbh.

I fast one meal a day… that and eating fairly healthily although I should cut back on crisps and chocolate!

I try to eat salmon, shrimp, boneless, skinless chicken breasts and occasionally, lean cuts of beef. I try to eat vegetables but I only like a few like asparagus, bell peppers, jalapeños, onions, artichokes, green beans, corn, carrots and celery. I try to eat a reasonable amount of nuts; almonds are really good for you, or walnuts and shelled sunflower seeds. I use olive oil. I eat a little rice, I try to limit bread.

The things I have cut completely out of my diet are sugary cold cereals, processed meat like sausage, bacon, and hot dogs, canned soup and canned chili, both have too much salt. I don’t eat flavored yogurt anymore, just plain greek yogurt. If I have fruit I’ll eat apples, oranges, berries, melons. I avoid peaches and grapes, too much sugar.

This is my general guideline, it roughly follows the Mediterranean Diet which is usually at the top of lists for best diets.

Low sodium, low fat, low carb, low fiber, water with lemon and sometimes diet soda. I eat a lot of nothing.

I’m also on olanzapine.

Avoid eating ultraprocessed, like junkfood, pizza, tv dinner.

Veggies, fruit, lean meat, whole grains is a good basis.

Start eating smaller portion meals.

It’s hard at first, because your body has to adapt from the Food you have been eating to the new diet with less fats and quality carbohydrates and protein. You just have to use your willpower and stick to the plan you make. It gets easier when you adapt.

Your body tries to trick you to eat like you’re gonna die if you don’t, when the opposite is more to the truth.

I’m 180cm, average built. I went from 95kgs to 83kg now after doing the above. I lost the weight gradually though, like over a whole year. If you lose about1kg a month you are doing good.

Metamucil 3 times a day, helps with blood sugar and cholesterol. Good things

I eat vegan. No dairy, eggs, meat, poultry, fish although I heard fish is healthy for you.

I eat vegan too, except for honey. I try to limit my coffee and drink herbal tea instead. I try to have a salad and include herbs like parsley in it. I eat oats, barley, brown rice and whole-wheat bread. Try to eat natural as possible.

I used to eat tons of sugar in the forms of chocolate, cookies and sweets of all kinds all day, everyday, and my whole life. But I am on three different AP’s: Risperdal, Geodon and Seroquel and I have slowly gone from 148 to 174.8 lbs. over the last 12 years on all these meds despite consistent exercise and calorie counting. So recently I have done something drastic and stopped all cookies, candy and sweets. I only allow myself one sugar pop a day. If my best friend can quit smoking after 55 years, I can quit the sweets. Same thing.

After three days, I’m glad to report that the sweet cravings are much lessened and that fruit tastes delicious to me now, and it didn’t before. So far so good. And of course I am still keeping up my calorie counting and yoga.

I eat beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and fish. All grains, legumes, dairy, fruits, vegetables, fats, nuts, and some seeds.

My intake of processed food is about 30%. I’d like to lower that to 25%.

Also vegan. I fast around 16 hours then eat during a 4 hour window. I stick to organic, whole plant based foods, and eat pretty much one plant based smoothie and one meal which consists of a variety of leafy greens, steamed veggies, avocados, olive oil, salt, etc. I incorporate a new raw veggie also each week to this meal. I mix up the produce every week to best assist with gut health and the microbiome. My other meal option if I don’t have that is making my air fried tofu!

Do you lose weight on what you eat? I think I have to cut out processed plant based foods like plant based Bulgogi, and plant based chicken nuggets. Also eat more nuts, legumes, leafy greens, and maybe vegan protein shakes.

Yes, I have lost weight since I incorporated the above changes that I previously mentioned. I would agree that removing processed plant based foods would be of great benefit. I would agree that staying away from processed plant based foods would be of benefit for you. A lot of individual think that just because something is labeled “plant-based” it is healthy. This actually doesn’t guarantee it’s nutritious; many processed plant-based foods can carry as many (or more) risks as processed animal-based foods. If a plant-based diet is done right, focusing on whole, unprocessed (or minimally processed) plant foods, tends to deliver significantly better health outcomes. If you ever choose processed plant-based alternatives, treat them as occasional convenience items, not as the foundation of your diet. Just my two cents
