Our Montgomery Ward’s shut down 20 years ago. I worked there twice.
I got my first credit card with them when I was 19. I think my mom co-signed for me. This was 1978.
Worked there too, lol. Got fired.
I don’t know. Not sure.
That’s a coincidence (kinda). I got my first credit card at J.C. Penny’s when I worked there when I was 18. They gave me a huge candy bar for filling out the paperwork. It was common in those days for stores to give “rewards” just to apply.
I dropped out of college and went to work in a mailroom. I got my job through an employment agency. I really didn’t know how to get a job in business.
Yeah, the local artists have online shops, but because they can’t afford decent advertising, I usually only find out about new ones at the store. I like seeing the art in person before buying.
I miss video rental stores. We used to have an awesome one in my city that was also a newstand.
They got shut down though because someone filed a lawsuit against them for carrying porn.
Which is totally legal. They probably couldn’t afford the legal bills. That’s a shame.
My sister still has (afaik) a family video. My nephew was devastated when Covid hit because he couldn’t go rent movies anymore. He’s 12 yo
We had a family video super close to me. They shut down.
Personally I’d be sad if this pagan supply store near my house closed down.
They have so many types of incense, essential oils, herbs for teas, lots of candles, statues and crystals.
Not to mention and the owners are just really chill people always willing to answer questions or have a chat.
Even if you dont believe in that stuff its a fun shop
My faves were a hippy store that sold clothing, posters, tapestries etc. that already closed and a British pub that shut down a few years ago. We were allowed to smoke inside when we started going there in my early 20’s. Played alot of darts there.
