What are your coping skills for paranoia?

With relationships, people you talk to.

How do you know what’s paranoia and what’s not?

I wish I can see clearer

I try to look at their past behaviors towards me. I also do a list to support the paranoia and to disprove the paranoia. Most of the time I find the disprove list is much greater than the one that supports the paranoia.

Thanks :grinning:. I’m going to incorporate that into my life

I don’t have coping skills that work so I’m all ears on this one!

I’m diagnosed sza, along with some other things so I’m right there with you. Doing that list has been one of the most helpful things for me. Another one is doing reality testing with someone I trust. Basically telling them what you’re thinking and seeing if what you’re thinking seems reasonable.

Yeah I dont feel like I cope well either for paranoia or anxiety or when something bad happens

I’ve done reality testing with my boyfriend because I trust him, but he’s pretty much burnt out with my perceptions. He’ll just say like one word about it and not back it up with facts. I burnt him out. He doesn’t have it in him any more

I don’t talk to my husband about my thoughts because I don’t want him to get tired of dealing with it

That’s smart. It’s hard to separate it because I’m not sure what I’m thinking is crazy because it can be so reality based. I guess I have to have some sort of boundaries

Anything that has to do with people vs me I don’t talk about

He asked me tonight if I’m ok. I know he cares. Paranoia is our perception. Its like someone’s favorite color is their favorite color. You can’t change it. So I’m glad he hauled along as long as he did. I’m going to try not talk about people cause my perception of people is way off. If we are together with people. He is my glue to keep me in reality

He sounds like a good guy.

I hope both of you find some relief @Winterblues and @LilyoftheValley

Paranoia is terrible. Mine comes and goes these days. I get it at work sometimes and I hate feeling like my coworkers are laughing or talking about me.
