I definitely have clinical depression and I’ve been diagnosed with it many times (I’ve attempted suicide 7 times.) But because it’s becoming clear that I am getting deeper into psychosis (I rapidly switch between having insight and not having it), I also want to watch out for negative symptoms. What are the differences?
What are the differences between negative symptoms and psychosis?
I know they’re different, I just don’t know all the details
Negative symptoms would be symptoms that you wouldn’t see in the general population: like the loss of something that’s normal
I don’t suffer many negatives thankfully. I’ve got some positives though!
How are you guarding against psychosis?
I’m not, really, because I wasn’t aware that was a thing you could do
I get negative symptoms from antipsychotics.
To me it seems the same as depression
No motivation, change in appetite, reduced ability to concentrate etc
I like reducing inputs. Grounding techniques are good. Talking on the phone with loved ones helps me a lot. Isolating unfortunately helps a lot for me, but only because of the support structure I have
Which dose of Abilify are you on now @Zoe?
2.5 mg of aripiprazole
I don’t understand the difference. Sometimes I don’t believe that negative symptoms exist. Sometimes I think they are caused by the antipshycotics.
They are very much connected. Although it’s taboo most of the very severe depressed people have lots of negative symptoms and cognitive impairments.
