can you help a troubled schizoprenic
What symptoms? The voices?
Because I’m an alcoholic and 25 mg of abilify didn’t work, so I added on naltrexone 50 mg and now I’m down to 20 mg abilify and its better than ever. I think you said you had drinking issues? But if it’s voices idk if it’ll help. But naltrexone combatted the insanity of alcoholism and depression of alcoholism. Makes me feel like a million bucks! Because it was the alcoholic portion of my brain causing the symptoms the antipsychotic wouldn’t touch. So the combo of antipsychotic and naltrexone does the trick. Just my 2 cents, I’m not a doctor but maybe just maybe this could help you stabilize. But don’t quote me, just a suggestion
I have tried all the meds I can and they either don’t work or cause major side effects, or can’t take because they lower my wbc too low. No quick answer for you. I had to go the antiseizure/convulsant route.
Before my last psychotic break 5yrs ago, I was on neurontin and clonazepam together. It seemed to work very well for me add in gingko biloba and aspirin for cognitive and I was almost completely functional.
Then I changed insurance and couldn’t afford meds - had the psychotic break - went to a new pdoc on my insurance - old one wasn’t on it - and they changed me back to ap’s. Which long story short - didn’t work. So now I am getting an appt. with a new doc to get back on the neurontin and clonazepam hopefully.
But I have a lot of medical issues and problems with meds to take.
is naltrexone an anti psychotic
No it’s a dopamine agonist
My theory, alcoholism causes insanity and depression, that the antipsychotic won’t touch. And naltrexone fights that.
It’s designed for anti alcohol cravings but does soooo much more for me.
You did say you have drinking issues right? Or maybe I’m confusing you with somebody else
