What a bloody dilema

Police turned up at our house today. Ill try cut this short.

My neighbour next door came driving up the street and parked outside his house. When he got out i noticed he didnt look well at all.

A car that had obviously followed him pulled up and a lady got out asked if he was ok but she drove off.

I could see something was wrong so i went out and asked if he was ok at which point he said his.blood sugar was bad…my partner helped him in the house.

A few mins later the police turned up. And about 5 mins after that they knocked on our door and handed us his car keys.

Turns out he has been driving with no liscence cos they wont give him one cause.of his medical problem. I asked the officer would we be in trouble if he asked for the keys back and we gave them to him and he said no.

Anyway its put us in a very difficult situation. I dont think the police should have done this. They should have kept the keys. Also i have since spoke to our neighbour and he has a spare key and no intention of stopping driving.

Ugh.

Yeah. They shouldn’t have given you the keys. That’s his property.

Exactly and if he asks for them back ill have to give them him. Cause as you said…its his.property.

And now they have told me he shouldnt be driving it also puts us in the situation where if we see he is we will have to report him. I really dont want to do that but i could not live with myself if he got ill behind the wheel again and ran over some poor child.

It’s not your duty to report your neighbor. I mean, it’s responsible of you and thoughtful because you’re keeping the rest of world around him safer, but it’s not your actual responsibility

Weird, its the police that should have kept the car and the keys. Its not your responsability.
