Were you ever in a play?

When I was in 7th grade my mom put me in acting summer camp.

I begged to go.

It was so fun.

The summer ended with a big production play of “The Princess and the Pea”.

I got a ■■■■■■■■ part, but it was still a great time.

Had a couple lines, the whole family came to see.

Pretty awesome.

Another time I was 17 and my mother was forcing me to go to church.

The youth department was putting on a Christmas play and the woman in charge pulled me aside and said she knew I was not very involved and that I didn’t want to be, but she needed me to take the lead in the play because no one else would take it seriously enough.

She looked desperate , so I said I would.

Super big mistake.

The play was like two hours long.

I had lines that went on for seemingly pages.

I was on stage or having dialogue like every second.

Two months of stress and memorization later,

I starred in a freaking Christmas play.

My jackass friends even came and cheered me on.

I’ll admit, I did a bang up job.

Everyone was impressed.

How about you?

Were you ever in a play?

We had a, pretty weird, teacher who was very much into Jesus.

She would makes us 6 year olds act out the crucifixion pretty much every Friday.

We didn’t mind it was fun.

The funniest part was lifting Jesus from as the cross and carry his body to his cave tomb thingie across the classroom.

We carried the kid playing jesus over our heads so was pretty much crowd surfing for 6 year olds.

Anyway of course everyone wanted to be jesus - I mean who wouldn’t. The popularity of that role meant we kept a rota of who would be jesus this week.

My week turned up but, as a portly kid, o was too heavy for the crowd surfing so I had to play Judas.

Too fat to be jesus!!! Ha!!!

I was in a Christmas play when I was 9 years old or so. I was kinda just thrown in, no practice, not enough time for memorization of any lines. It was a disaster.

It wasn’t 2 hours long, like yours, though. It was super short… like 15 minutes.

Whenever I hear the word “portly” it reminds me of this scene from Orange County,

A super underrated comedy.

portly

20 Years Ago, the GP got me into an Amateur Dramatics Company - Singing Gilbert and Sullivens “Ruddigore”. He even prescribed me beta blockers for stage fright.

The family visited a performance on the quiet.

I left in the end - my singing was hardly upto scratch. Im more used to singing in a Chancel with a Cassock on in a Catherdral lol.

You should watch that movie man.

It’s pretty short by today’s standards and hilarious.

Some real gem one liners.

I personally hate the spotlight.

Unfortunately(?) I have an alter who doesn’t mind being the center of attention.

I found out that Apparently he’s a good singer though. I dissociated one night and woke up in a karaoke bar apparently “I” had gone up in front of everyone and sung “my” heart out  I had quite a few people compliment me lmao it was super awkward and I wanted to vanish at the time but it’s pretty funny now even though I cringe a bit lol

Sissy Spacek’s daughter is in it and does a great job.

They all do.

That movie is so funny and doesn’t get any credit.

In 6th grade we did “Tom Sawyer” but I wasn’t acting in it, I was a stage hand. It was a lot of fun. I can’t act worth a damn!

Yes, in elementary school I played the Page (= knight apprentice) in some kind of fairy tale adaptation for kids.

Oh and a couple years later I actually wrote a short play, forcing all my family to take part in it, and I played the king, who mindlessly gives money to scammers until he goes bankrupt, but then he casts a powerful curse on his wrongdoers, who die a painful death

When I was in second grade I was in a play about teeth and taking care of them. I played Mr. Bicuspid and dressed up in a huge tooth costume, lol. It was in front of the whole school and all the parents.

I was forced to be in a play at public school that my A level English teacher was putting on. It was a horrific experience due to my severe social anxiety. I only had 2 lines to say, and forgot them both. That increased my already negative status as a ‘F*****g useless weirdo’

When I was in college I was told I’m brilliant at creative writing.
I acted out one of my writings in front of my class.

My english teacher loved it.

My class were all confused and I was laughing my head off at my own jokes infront of the class who kept asking what was funny.

I was in plays and acting classes from 12-17. I even was in a theater troupe where had to audition to get in. Then I was in dinner theater in my early twenties.

In kindergarten, I was the mother in Hansel and Gretel. In the 4th grade, I was Santa’s helper and sang. I was also in a play the juniors put on in high school. It was a murder mystery complete with beans poured on a cookie sheet for the sound of a rainstorm.
