I had a South African roomie in my early twenties. He was part Tamil Indian and his mom would bring over cooking for us. She didn’t tone it down because I was eating it. By the end of the two years with Donny I pretty much had the ability to suck on red hot metal. I just love food that is spicy enough to take me to the edge of discomfort. In my case that’s enough to send others to the ER.
My wife and I go to a East African restaurant in Calgary where the staff know me and spice things for me at a level well beyond what they normally serve their customers. It’s hot enough to make me struggle with it, which is how I like it. We took my daughter and her then boyfriend there for supper:
Mike decided he needed to impress me and also Ash by eating the same things I was. It took him half an hour to stop throwing up after drinking an entire ramikan of hot sauce. LOL.
I just started making my own hot sauce with moderate success. Next I am making a jalapeno sauce. Yay!
Plus I bought Melinda’s hot sauce sampler pack. I was rather disappointed with the Ghost Pepper sauce. The mango flavored sauce is mild but oh so yummy.
Have you ever tried Carolina Reapers? I’m very curious about how it tastes… It seems that the taste is sweet at the beginning but “turns into molten lava”
