Starting in September of last year I lost 20 pounds by counting calories. Then I started mounjaro in November and lost 51 more for a total of 71 lbs in about a year. I still have a ways to go but I keep running into small plateaus that last about a month at a time.

On one that is about a month and a half, but I spent that camping with someone who is averse to activity. That doesn’t help.

Do you have a plan to lose the weight @irrelevant?

yeah but it’s probably not the healthiest plan. but it’s basically very low calorie. using protein drinks to make a smoothie twice a day. all liquid. i am considering though a protein smoothie for breakfast and a plant based small dinner instead of protein smoothies only. but for now im starting on protein smoothies only. it will be around a calorie limit of 1000 and 60 grams of protein and exercise. biking.

That is really hard to maintain because you lose everything you love and are miserable about food most of the time. Eating won’t be enjoyable at all and when you’re not eating you’re going to feel awful. I’ve tried this in the past and it blows up on me. Open to a slower but more sustainable option?

maybe. especially if i find i can’t handle the quick plan and end up binging. but im open to any suggestions

Thats too low. Try 1300 to 1500 instead. Preferably 1500

I would start with 1300 and add an extra 300 calories a day in biking if you’re able to. That should even out the calories but without you starving. Protein shakes are okay, but they’re not satiating. Your body will process the liquid quickly and you’ll be hungry again before you know it. I know most people cringe when I suggest chickpeas or lentils, but if you get some protein from legumes, they are very filling and you won’t blow your calorie budget with them. All kinds of ways to do them up differently.

I’d suggest things like a fritata loaded with veggies and made with some extra egg whites instead of a protein shake. Two hours later you’ll still feel like you ate something. That sort of thing. Can’t go wrong with a chicken breast with skin removed, either (just don’t slather it in honey).

yeah a higher count like that might work if i exercise every day. i’ll definitely raise my limit if I find i’m getting weak or dizzy. I have done a low count like that for years in the past. I know it’s not healthy but I’m so fed up with my weight. I was thin before Invega and this is officially the heaviest i’ve ever been.

I really like this idea. It will be a great way to make sure im getting enough calories without losing muscle because I will have the energy to exercise.

@irrelevant one of the big lessons from AA is that you can’t just get rid of a habit, you have to replace it. Your diet is probably full of things that are contributing to the weight gain, or making you feel lousy enough you have less energy.

I used Gemini Pro AI to help analyze my food intake, I fed it a month of screenshots from MyFitnessPal. It helped me identify the worst foods I was eating and we made a list and schedule together of things I would eliminate from my diet and what I would replace them with. I used to eat ketchup (catsup) flavoured crisps. Now when I want those I have tomato slices with a splash of sweet habanero sauce. When I want sour cream and onion crisps I have cucumber slices with hummus. If I really badly want a chocolate bar, I get a banana in slices and each slice gets a tiny dab of Nutella to nail the chocolate craving.

I slowly replaced one thing at a time from my list of evil foods and didn’t move onto the next one until I had built a habit of eating a particular food when a particular craving hit. Over time the craving shifted and now I just want my spicy tomato slices and thinking of crisps makes my tummy churn.

Don’t know if that helps? It took a while to do this, but I sort of reprogrammed my eating habits over time and now I don’t crave the things I did before.

Me too, me too. I’m only 5’6 but weigh 222 pounds. I’m trying to start calorie counting again. Aiming for 1500 to 1900 calories a day. Added with my usual cardio.

Thank you! i love those ideas and i love AI so that should work well haha. I’m gonna try that when I have a craving and work with AI to come up with alternatives. My cravings are the main thing that have caused all this weight gain. I rarely feel physical hunger. It’s come mainly from eating foods that are not good for me because I had a craving.
