I received 2 injections of Invega, initiation(234 mg) and loading (156 mg) and shortly after the shots I developed urinary hesitancy then one day I couldn’t pee at all…had to go to the hospital and put a catheter in.
It’s been about a month and a half since getting these shots and I still have trouble peeing, just wondering if anyone else has gone through this…wanting a little hope
I went to the ER and the dr said it’s possible it could be from the Invega and the best thing would be to bide my time….that seems like a while with its long half life though
I had an experience like yours. They put me on Haldol and it made me dizzy, I couldn’t stand still without feeling like I was going to topple over. I quit Haldol after a couple weeks but that dizziness effect lasted for months. It just took time to fix itself.
I also had brain zaps from quitting effexor and those lasted for 3 months after quitting. Again it just took time to fix itself.
Hopefully you can pee sooner rather than later. These drugs are no joke. All the best!
Welcome to the forum!
Yeah, I agree with Daze, seems unrelated to me.
I was on Invega and never had that problem.
I also tried to look it up and see if it was a side effect and the closest side effect I found was urinary incontinence(loss of bladder control).
I developed shy bladder on Invega, i couldnt urinate in shared bathrooms like bars, gyms and clubs. Sometimes i used to suffocate myself in order to urinate
Hi i m using invega since 5 years and i would say it may happened to me time to time but it pass inside of 15 days or so.usually it s because you are taking highest dose and it may happened.my advice is take time to get over it.good luck
Welcome to the forum! I think you should see your primary dr for an exam and consultation before accepting what the ER dr said. It’s possible it’s the medicine, but other possibilities should be considered before accepting that as fact.
I’ve heard of such a thing with antidepressants but not anti psychotics. Either way the docs should have a clue about it. It’s a serious problem that needs addressing.
I have had same problem on Risperdal. An anticholinergic like Benedryl (over the counter) or Ditropan XL (by prescription) worked for me.
The urologist said it was Parkinsonism reaction to meds. I switched to lighter meds but still have to take ditropan or Benadryl.
