Update on working/life/music

I’ve been feeling in control of my career recently.

I started teaching dance and have a few students and a class now. I’m looking for other little teaching jobs. It’s been a huge shift from working at a desk or counter for hours. I used to have to do a lot in customer service.

I think only if ur built to sell in retail or operate a phone u can do well and feel satisfied in ur job. I worked at a musical instrument shop and I had to sell expensive bs products instead of stuff I’d rather recommend cuz I use them.

It’s not everyday someone comes in and buys an instrument worth more than their rent. But if I can’t sell at least 10 of those in a month apparently I’m failing lol yea not the most pleasant experience.

Yeah sales jobs are brutal like that.
With musical instruments I imagine most people either are browsing out of curiosity or they want something specific. Buying instruments isn’t something people do very often or on whim. So the idea that you are responsible for selling X amount of instruments in a month is a bit of a joke IMO.

Lolol thanks for understanding
Glad I quit.

The ironic part is most of the stuff they want me to sell I couldn’t even imagine buying cuz the pay was terrible. I used to even take a 15min train ride to the mall which the store was located.

I’m a little more selective with my jobs now lol

What kind of dance do you teach?

Hip hop but also
We do covers of the choreography for kpop lol

I teach BTS songs but older kpop is choreographed by more well known western choreographers so I like teaching those more.

Even if ur not a fan of the music, the moves are there lol

I’m glad you found something you like.
If you can get enough classes and students I’m sure you can make a much better living than you can in a retail job anyhow.

I wish u success in ur career as well.
Pls consider buying instruments online if u do. They have better deals than the store I worked at lolol

Haha yeah thanks for the tip.
Places here seem fairly competitive with pricing. I bought a bass from a store in London a few years ago because the store near me wanted £100 just to try it out (!!). A return ticket to London is like £20 so that one was a bit of a no brainer

I can’t believe they were charging for u to try it out
Wow lol

I thought my store was bad cuz they pretty much told me to harass them to buy it once they start trying it out. Lolol

I wonder if u asked for a seat they would’ve made u buy the chair haha
