I got my ancestory DNA back and I was like 44% Jewish European 25% Italian 13% Irish 12% middle eastern 3.5% Scottish and the rest others.
Well I told my pdoc about the middle eastern and he said “oh that’s just your Italian, a lot of middle easterners moved to Italy”. Which makes me ponder, how long does one have to live in a country before it becomes part of their DNA???
Like didn’t all man start in Africa anyways so shouldn’t that show up on DNA?? Or just lost over the years.
But am I more Italian or middle eastern at all…
I think I will identify as 1/2 Jewish 3/8 Italian and 1/8 Irish. Sorry @anon20613941 but my 3.5% Scottish doesn’t make the cut… how is an American who’s whole family immigrated to America in the late 1800s 3.5% of anything?? I don’t get how they determine this all.
But If this was 1910 I’d be the most discriminated against person in New York City for being Irish, Italian and Jewish…the three most hated white groups at the time weren’t even considered white Back then…
Help me understand and do you think taking credit for more Italiano makes more sense than calling myself middle eastern?
