I like in a up market town and it’s becoming a ghost town, nail bars, bookies, vape shops and Greggs. Everything has moved out of town where they have free parking. Has you local town become a ghost town too?
The highstreet where I live still has a lot of people on it on a weekend - so much so that I don’t enjoy going to town on a weekend. But I have no idea what people are actually going there to buy. A lot of my favourite stores closed down and I like many other people were already ordering stuff on the internet instead for like 15 years or whatever.
I just find it easier to find clothes I like on the internet where they have a wider selection and stock my size. And things like CD’s/games/DVDs are somewhat pointless to buy physical copies of (IMO). I just stream or download them instead. I can even buy dried meats and chutney on the internet easier than I can IRL.
I read recently that there is one specific area that runs parallel to the high street that is going to be demolished and repurposed into residential area which I am actually quite pleased about as we have a lot of empty stores and this specific area is all empty. I only hope they are not “luxury apartments” like is often the case around where I live. It’d be nice to just have a bunch of accommodation made for people with limited incomes.
Yes my local towns gone the same way.
In Madrid there are a lot of people, coffee houses, dental clinics, shops, restaurants, supermarkets,… etc.
Yeah, same here. They’re turning most of the town centre into apartments now because it’s that quiet
