He’s not antipsychiatry according to him, but doesn’t appear to be a fully paid supporter of recovery= total remission of symptoms only either.
I should point out I am very much in favour of symptom remission as one of the cornerstones of recovery. It should be that and psychological and/or social recovery in my opinion . With it being preferable to have all three.
So when they talk about recovery, they’re referring to being social again and going to see a psychologist ?
I think the ideal is to have no symptoms on as low a med dose and on as few meds as possible. Unfortunately in reality it is difficult to always meet the ideal which is why many providers settle for functional/mostly managed symptoms as recovery instead. Not the ideal and kind of depressing, but medicine and science has a long way to go before we can meet the ideal. I agree that should 100% be the target for recovery.
