Two weeks without Wegovy

I went on a camping trip at the start of July and forgot to take my Wegovy pen with me. Since going without is a concern because of weight coming back quickly, here’s what happened so others know.

  1. Yes, my appetite did come back, but not all of it. I could eat to fullness unlike before the Wegovy, but I did eat more than my usual portion. I would say I had a normal appetite still and the cravings were manageable.
  2. I weighed myself the night I got back and was up 4.8 lbs.
  3. A day after that and for the next two days I was only up 2.2 and then 2 lbs. The reason for this was I was into salty snacks and had, er, bulk, in my system. Losing the water and bulk revealed the true weight gain.
  4. I did not have a weigh scale for two weeks. Normally I weigh each morning and If I see my weight is drifting up, I adjust my intake. I didn’t have this tool.
  5. My diet was not good while I was camping. My wife took over meal planning and, uh, she needs improvement in this area. I did try to mitigate by filling more on the stuff I knew was better for me when I could.

Since coming back on July 21 I have lost the extra 2 lbs and another 1.4 lbs. I’m back on the Wegovy, but after the two week break it seems to be less effective than before. I’m having to use DBT tricks to manage food impulses some. Maybe not a bad thing as I won’t be on this med forever.

In any case, being off the med for a couple weeks wasn’t a complete disaster and it gives me hope I can manage my weight once I’m off the med.

If I ever go back on it (which I probably won’t due to cost) I’d never come off it.

My weight since coming off it shot up.

Did you change your diet while on it or just eat less of what you normally did?

Ive definitely lost a good amout of weight in the last 3 months

I feel your pain…I hated it when I was overweight…good luck.
