Two clinical trials show newer drugs were no more effective or better tolerated than older drugs

Very interesting discussion on medications (best ones) in the British Journal of Psychiatry.

Two large, non-commercial clinical trials comparing first- and second-generation antipsychotic drugs for people with chronic schizophrenia in the US and UK have shown unexpected results. In general, the newer drugs were no more effective or better tolerated than the older drugs. Clozapine outperformed other second-generation drugs.

Im not surprised at all by those results. I personally don’t believe these anti pscyotics are effective at all. But on the point of 1st and 2nd generation, I personally found Largactil to be the most effective (especially in syrup form). I personally think 2nd generation tabs are ■■■■. And I have chronic schizophrena.
