Treating sza

I just found out my place I go to for mental health takes a long time figuring things out. They go step by step with treatment options instead of trying to treat problems optimally in the very beginning. I can’t afford to go elsewhere right now.

Is their treatment a linear progression or more of an IF/THEN flowchart that branches according to the results of previous treatments?

My friend who also goes there said it’s an if/then situation. They introduce one med or treatment at a time. One med at a time is good though so you know which drugs cause which side effects. I guess after thinking it over I don’t mind that so much

I’m lucky we have Assertive Community Treatment here. They’re a good team. One of the psychiatrists put me an a great antipsychotic (Invega) and I can call if I think I need a med change. We have CBT group every week and Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment too. We also have Wellness group where we walk at the Wellness Center or outside in the summer.

That’s great @anon21849028 . Where I go has tons of stuff too. I just didn’t know that with meds and therapy they do it on a if/then basis. I’m done being frustrated by it because they do help me. I need to have a better attitude

@ZmaGal , is this place you go to staffed mostly by psychiatrists or by mental health nurse practitioner’s? If its mostly by NP’s, that would explain their policies.

It’s MD psychiatrists. No NPs. No PAs. @SkinnyMe
