To me, music is a sport

And if you are skilled enough, you can even get paid for it. Not as much as sportsmen but the competition is just about as bad.

I have a keyboard it’s got 88 keys, heavyweight.

Tough finding time to play. I need to try harder.

You know my secret of success? Play ten minutes and make yourself stop but do it every day.

I would tend to agree. To be good at music you need some talent and some discipline. A worthy comparison @PinCushion .

That’s really good advice. Thankyou.

I have one too like that. I havent been practicing much lately.

It’s tough work but yea… Need to push myself it is the only way. Good luck with it

I bought a really nice keyboard on credit. Still paying that bugger off. I play it like once a week. I need to play more.

same old mindset tbh

My piano teacher used to tell me this is not gymnastics because of the way I moved my fingers on the piano. Lol. So I suppose I thought it was a sport indeed

To me you couldn’t be more wrong. You don’t have to be a virtuoso at all to be in a band, make recordings, or to make money in music. Where as in sport the best player wins.
To the audience music is about interpretation and emotion, sport is about objective physical goals.

Oh, I believe there are lots of emotions in sports. Getting excited over a touchdown or a home run. Getting sad about a strike out. Winning highs and losing lows. Lots of people put heart into their interest in sports.

There is emotions in everything. What I was saying is a goal in sport is equivalent to emotion in music. Where as a musician that doesn’t conjure any emotion in people isn’t going to be successful.

Yeah but in the music world there is a lot of competitiveness. Musicians couldn´t care less for the audience, but what other musicians think about them.

I personally play for my fellow bandmates and usually don´t care for the audience too much.
