Time to be more direct?

Although I am usually quite blasé when asked how I am(ie “not too bad” “so so” etc) I am tempted to give a more direct response next time along the lines of ” I do as well as my mental illness and unrecognised and untreated learning difficulties allow ”
That is a more open response to the question ” How are you doing” that often precedes the jab in the butt ,and may get them thinking ” Why has he said that? What’s going on here? “.
It of course does depend on their intelligence levels/willingness to really listen to what the patient says.

**That cracked me up! LOL! **

I’ve thought about telling the truth.

“I haven’t chopped anybody up yet but it’s still early”.

My supervisor asked me what I did on my day off and I was thinking about saying that but they already think I’m weird so that might have pushed them over the edge.

My brother thinks that I am too polite with my pdoc - He feels that I should be more “truthful” and direct with her.
He does have a point, maybe I am not assertive enough at times - Next time I will try to be more specific with her

Someone elsewhere said my planned response was too diplomatic. It’s hard to really speak up when previous attempts to do so have resulted in open hostility and bad mouthing from psychiatric services. What I don’t want is for the mindless and pig ignorant abuse to resurface.
