Thinking of writing a novel

I have always been into photography, but now I want to write.

I want to write a drama novel lightly based on my experiences with schizophrenia. It’s about a depressed schizophrenic teenager who is trying to deal with an existential crisis and guide his way through life. The moral of the story is that even though life may be meaningless, you can create your own and make yourself happy.

Anyone think this is a good idea? I’m just afraid it’s too much like “Catcher in the Rye.”

Wiser people than me say you should write something everyday so if you’re going to do it just start. Even if it’s a paragraph or a page you’ll soon find out if your story is good and it’s worthwhile perusing.

We have published authors here so they’ll have other advice but I say give it a go.

I want to write my story. Its going to be a collection of remembered experiences dreams and premonitions. I’ve been struggling on the timeline of experience what to leave out and what to include. I want to include people I met but fictionalize them as well.
