My sister tells me that I need medication. I don’t want it to control me. Any thoughts on Geodon?
Usually I think u have to take it twice a day with food. Cos of short half life. Its weight neutral.
Sometimes a little control is good, as long as the control doesn’t make you worse, like, suicidal.
I’ve been reading about it lately. Seems better than Abilify.
In what way?..
I’ve heard that the makers of Abilify has been sued servers times. And the review are either perfect or horrible.
Oh yea that’s true. People have sued over impulse issues. I think.
That’s what I’ve been. It just puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Every drug is different for every person, but Geodon is the med that is right for me. It’s not as strong as some other meds, so you might get breakthrough symptoms. On higher doses, it took away my sex drive. But I lost 40 pounds on it, and on lower doses it keeps me stable enough to balance a job, a husband, social responsibilities, and chores.
Geodon is more likely to give you cardiac side effects though, so you need an EKG every year while taking it. When I was on a higher dose, I had a mild arrhythmia, that went away when I reduced.
If you miss even one dose, the withdrawal is very painful.
For some people Geodon is The Answer. That drug has kept me stable and symptom free for over ten years. It’s had the least side effects, too. I take Seroquel in combination with my Geodon. I didn’t think the Seroquel was doing anything until I didn’t get it for five days. I was more jittery than I cared to be. I recommend that you try Geodon. If it doesn’t work you can try something else.
If your family and your psychiatrist say that you need meds I would seriously consider it, sz can mess with your insight…
For some people Geodon works well as do Abilify, you can try it and see if it is good for you.
Thank you for the details. It’s super helpful.
