Thinking about seeing a new therapist

This is bullshitt.
My current social worker therapist has been skipping our therapy sessions altogether.
She just simply doesn’t contact me to let me know what’s going on.
This has been occurring more than once.

I’m thinking about either seeing her less often or dumping her for a more responsible therapist.

She lacks any kind of respect for me.

This is a problem

Her phone sessions last only for 10 minutes.

It’s ridiculous

Best of luck @Wave. I cant know how you feel but I have had my fair share of bad providers so it can be frustrating.

That’s unacceptable. You have every right to complain and get a new therapist

Is a social worker therapist as qualified as a therapist ? I would say something. That’s not on.

Over here in the US, a therapist can be licensed as a social worker, counselor, or psychologist I believe.

Thanks @Azythum @LilyoftheValley @anon25873142
She texted me to apologize, she said because of MLK holiday she forgot about our appointment.

I don’t buy it but I’ll continue to see her less, maybe twice a month

Are you sure? Your time is just as important as her time.

She is supposed to be a professional in the mental health field. Surely she knows how it can affect some psychologically to be blown off multiple times. It’s unacceptable.

If you decide to stick with her anyway I’ll respect your decision. Just make sure you’re taking care of yourself and not letting anyone treat you as less than

Therapy is a waste for me anyway

If it’s a waste, you need a better therapist

@anon25523312 from my experience ALL of the therapists I’ve seen in the past were worst than her.
At least she gives me sound advice when I do talk with her.

I’ll continue to see her because I’m mandated to see a therapist basically

She really is a decent therapist she just has the habit of forgetting our appointments.

It’s happened twice before.

Plus she accepts my insurance

Most of the therapists in my area don’t accept my insurance

@Wave, what qualifications must therapist have in States?

Not much, a basic college degree, and you can be a counselor
