My cats are chipped, too - the chip does not have a camera and it does not broadcast. The only thing it does is provide programmed information if scanned in a place with a chip reader. The information is the cat’s owner’s contact information or the name of the cat’s vet.
If your cat got lost, for example, no one could use the chip to track or find your cat - it’s not any sort of beacon. But if someone brought your cat into the animal shelter, they could scan your cat and contact you.
