I fell as though my OCD caused a lot of my other symptoms like anxiety, voices, paranoia, etc. When I first started feeling psychotic, I decided to google some of my symptoms. Now I might be wrong but once I read symptoms and was aware of things, I fell as though reading it and thinking about it, and thinking about it only heightened the symptoms, because I was thinking about it ever more.
Now my theory, even though I’m not going to try it because it’s quite scary to think about. Since I have OCD, if I was to think I had tourettes syndrome and acted it out a few times, could it actually lead to me gaining tourettes? Seeing how it caused my schizophrenia to elevate, I feel as though if one has OCD that it can initiate other disorders… because of its repetitive nature.
I can understand this idea. I do know that when I concentrate on certain symptoms they do come in to focus and amp up.
My voices have been fading and sometimes I actually go into my head and hunt for them… guess what… they come out of hiding with a vengeance. My OCD is the same way. There are some things that I can’t help… but there are somethings that if not reminded about I can let go on not act out.
The more I focus on something… the stronger it becomes.

This is why I never say i’m getting better, because all it takes is “one” thought and i’m back doing the same things.
I definitely have some OCD symptoms in thought that’s where most my battle was. I had to get over some delusions as well. I completely understand where your coming from. Be careful. Sounds like you could use more healthy distractions in your life. Healthy things to think about. That’s the only thing that pulled me out of my rut. I’m still dealing with some lingering tendencies in my OCD.
Yes your right in some respects , but what clearly differentiates ocd from schiz or other psychotic disorders is … The psychosis part. Ocd sufferers can absorb massive amounts of stress over a life time and never become psychotic. So they have , ironically , a high degree of stress tollerance. But i agree with you some of the , lets say , cognitive processes , are very similar and i have remarked on the similarities before.
