The Xmas meal thread

I had pizza from an Italian place and Yule log cake. (Buche de Noël).

J’aime beaucoup les desserts traditionnels français. Malheureusement, je ne peux pas les acheter près de chez moi et je n’ai pas le temps de faire ma propre bûche de Noël pour le moment.

It was hot so had a pasta salad…our deceased mum’s recipe of potato salad with some cold cuts namely ham and chicken. It was good. Chicken was done on a parilla bar b que and was quite tasty! Traditional family cook in Queensland Australia!

For christmas eve we had a norwegian dish, Pinnekjøtt.

And for christmas day, we’re having a Danish christmas meal, duck with potatoes and sauce and stuffed with apples and prunes.

My dad is making it, and he makes a sauce that is just chef’s kiss

What languages do you speak? I speak English and Spanish but I dabble in other languages. I can understand a tiny bit of French, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese. I’m a language geek.

English is my mother tongue. I’m proficient in French but hesitate to call myself fluent as I have trouble understanding spoken French (mainly because of the tinnitus). I have no difficulty reading and writing in it. I’m mediocre with Latin. I’d like to learn Japanese, but a person only has so much free time.

I took Japanese in college. I liked it. It’s an interesting language.

I have a kind of weird menu because my husband is from Texas and likes cheese too much.

But I got one fresh vegetable in there, so, feeling pretty proud.

We’re having:

Honey Baked Ham,

Macaroni and cheese,

Corn custard (corn casserole),

Apples and cheese casserole,

Puff pastry cranberry brie bites,

Pigs in a blanket,

And my pick: green bean almondine.

Also a big salad.

Most of that is already prepared, but still have a lot of work to do.

I’m so excited - I was able to read and (mostly) understand that!

I have all the baking to do today for our gathering tomorrow… the chocolate chip cookie dough is prepped (my recipe calls for it to be chilled), and then I make the sugar cookies.

I’ve done sooooooo much baking already. I’m getting sick of it.
