The use and impact of surveillance in inpatient mental health settings

As someone who got put in with violent patients a couple of times my personal opinion is that there can’t be too much surveillance.

Would have been nice to have video evidence of the restraining and forced medication I was given

To say they were too heavy handed is an understatement

I have been on the receiving end of several “Haldol flying tackles”. I know I earned a couple, but I feel that one was a bit spurious (all I did was say no to meds, maybe talk before playing rugby with a needle in the booty?).

I agree with you. Best to err on the side of caution.

I turned around to quickly one time and I ended up being held to the floor by three people with one having their foot quite forcefully on the back on my neck

I believe the surveillance is necessary. I would frequently steal utensils on the ward to hurt myself with and I’m glad they caught me on camera jabbing a fork into the burns on my arm. I’ve deserved every restraint and booty juice I’ve ever gotten, as i used to be very out of control. Not so much as I’ve gotten older, thankfully.

who are we when no one’s watching ?

All my doc and pdoc appointments are recorded now. They use ai to analyse it and dictate.

You’re joking, right ?

Im not joking. My new doc i had to sign a form accepting that or no doctor. Welcome to the surveilance dystopia lol. My pdoc always has a microphone running as well.

I wont be surprised if every doctors office does this within the next 5 years.
