What I learned from AA is that the only way to truly ditch a bad habit is to replace it with a good habit. It’s easiest if you do this one habit at a time rather than trying to do them all at once. My current habit I’m trying to fix is snacking on rubbish. Fixing in two parts:
Buying fresh fruit and healthier snacks so there’s no rubbish (crisps) on hand.
Preparing ahead by cleaning and prepping fruit and veg.
I’ve been roasting Brussels sprouts ahead. I’m happy to snack on a bowl of those if they’re cooked and I can nuke them. Same with fresh made pickles if I want a salty crunch, but those have to be prepped a day ahead. Fruit needs to be washed and bagged. Celery and cucumbers cut up ahead of time. If I do this, I snack better. If I don’t, I wind up in crisps or whatever box of crackers Mrs. Squirrel has (I can’t get her to stop buying that crap).
Drawing. Video games. These are some of the things I do. I’m trying to give up drinking. I always have paranoia the day after. So it’s best if I just stop. Plus I’ve been getting trashed. Can’t just have 1 or 2. More like 6 or 7.
