Years ago when a psychiatric inpatient I was sent to do a cookery course. I was kicked off it for being ‘defiant’/‘obstructive’ . My supposed ‘crime’ taking too long to peel potatoes. No one was intelligent enough to consider there might have been a problem worth looking into . Instead I was judged and found guilty. That was because they couldn’t be bothered to get to know me.
That was an opportunity lost over 30 years ago to really help me . Is it any wonder I think a lot of psychiatric professionals just aren’t that intelligent.
