Interesting topic. And relevant to a lot of people.
For me my diagnosis was not a choice.
My psychologist at the time said it would help her decide how to treat me.
When a diagnosis was made, she then told me her techniques would not work for me and I have been cut off
Makes me angry, and this whole positive revelation thing seems so alien to me, as I feel it was used as a tool to deny me support - rather than help more.
I am sick of being left to rot, I really wish I could find a way out of this life, but I am failing to do so
I’ll confess to being increasingly disillusioned, and uncertain about the dx. Much of that stems from ‘AutisticTwitter’. It’s full of people doing fantastic things while having the worst symptoms imaginable. I can’t identify with that all.
90% of Twitter seems to be people running around screaming at others for inoffensive behavior that has somehow offended. I occasionally go there when I need to get rid of frustration and cause head explosions. It can be a great source of entertainment.
I try and use Twitter
Sometimes I see things being announced on there that is pretty useful
Other than that it’s a steaming ■■■■ pile of every person under the sun having an opinion on things
Social media really sucks.
I only tend to use Social media for info, not socialising digitally
This website I do not consider social media. Forums I think are much different
Twitter is my go to place for politics. I won’t go into any further detail. Not all of the ASD content is bad,but what I’ve mentioned and what @shutterbug has mentioned are major downsides.
