The End of the US Supreme Court

It was 2025 and the White House and Congress continued to be controlled by different parties and no new Supreme Court justices were picked. A vigil was surrounding the last surviving Justice who had been in bad health for a while and had not put out a judgement in months. Different groups representing differing opinions on judicial matters protested outside of the hospital and were trying to get him to make one last decision for them but he was on life support and was unresponsive. Finally he died and the Supreme Court ceased to exist. The other branches of government argued over how to replace the Supreme Court but failed to come to an agreement. Ideas like having the public vote for the Supreme Court were tossed and 250 possible candidates by the President were rejected. So 7 people who just were made justices and had never presided over a case were finally picked. (I’m trying not to make a political statement here but feel it’s ridiculous that this scenario may be a possibility.)

All great empires have to fall!!! I’m moving to Costa Rica by then.

A gerbil walks in. Takes a look around. And bolts for the nearest exit.
