The diabetes thread

I think the only thing that would make sense, if your numbers are accurate, is that your blood sugar is erratic, sometimes low and sometimes high. Pretty sure A1C is a measure of your average blood sugar over a period of time. It wouldn’t make sense if your blood sugar was consistently low for you to have a high A1C, I don’t think. So, it must be a once in awhile thing.

But why do I feel dizzy then after eating no more dizziness, nervousness/irritability, shaky hands or feeling weak?

I don’t know @Aziz .

Maybe my blood glucose is fluctuating too much? Low when fasting and high after eating so the average is a1c 5.8%?

Well…thats pretty much what I meant by erratic…

Does that mean I eat too much? I think staying in bed 24/7 is also not helping.

I’m a type 1 diabetic, so I’m watching my blood sugar 24/7 with my CGM. It can randomly spike into the 300’s or randomly plummet down to the 30’s. I gotta be very careful with my insulin.

I have insulin being infused 24/7, by an insulin pump. I also have to give extra insulin every time I eat and everytime it randomly starts to go higher.

I have to make sure the math in my pump is up to date, as my insulin needs change over time. I have equations for how much insulin per how many carbohydrates I eat, how much insulin per how high my blood sugar is, and how much insulin infused every five minutes, which varies by hour, to keep my blood sugar in control.

I’ll be T1D for 20 years, this December. I was diagnosed at age 10.

For the first 10 years, I was on multiple daily injections. About 5 shots of fast acting insulin, every day, plus 1 shot of long acting insulin, every night. I much prefer my insulin pump.

Questions for your doctor I guess…but if I were in your shoes, I would keep an eye on your diet, check your blood sugar levels frequently to try to figure out whats going on, and yes, I’m sure exercise wouldnt hurt.
